Together, Minister K. Shanmugam and Fandi Ahmad created the Nee Soon Football and Study Programme for youths aged 7 to 16. It was launched on 25 January 2015. The Nee Soon GRC Grassroots Organisations will sponsor 80 students under the MOE Financial Assistance Scheme. The students, who either live or study in Nee Soon GRC, will also attend a study mentoring programme alongside football training.
