Parliamentary Questions filed by Mr Louis Ng on 3, 4 and 5 October 2022
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) for each year in the past five years, how many and what percentage of stallholders at hawker centres have not provided disposables for dine-in meals; and (b) what steps the Ministry will take in the coming years to further reduce the use of disposables for dine-in meals at hawker centres.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Transport (a) for each year in the past five years, what percentage of commercial ships using our ports are powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG); and (b) what steps will the Ministry take to facilitate the shift towards use of LNG-powered ships.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) for each year in the past five years, how many and what percentage of hawker centres have centralised dishwashing services; and (b) whether an update can be provided on the steps the Ministry will take to further increase the use of centralised dishwashing services.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Education for each year in the past five years (a) how many and what percentage of teachers break their teaching bonds respectively; and (b) what are the top three reasons for breaking their bonds.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) for each year in the past five years, how many and what percentage of coffee shops do not have a smoking corner; and (b) what steps will the Ministry take to further reduce the number of smoking corners at coffee shops.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Prime Minister (a) whether any study has been conducted on how employers balance their operational needs against reservist obligations of Operationally Ready National Servicemen for up to 40 days per year; (b) if such studies have been conducted, whether the Ministry can study how such measures can be applied to parental and childcare leave; and (c) if such studies have not been conducted, whether the Ministry will consider conducting such studies and, if not, why not.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Health for each year over the past five years (a) what is the number of students who enrolled into nursing programmes in the ITE, polytechnics and universities respectively; and (b) what is the number and percentage of nursing students who go on to practise nursing after graduation from the ITE, polytechnics and universities respectively.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Manpower whether the Ministry is studying the possibility of encouraging the transition towards the Household Services Scheme for more families who currently have a foreign domestic worker.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Sustainability and the Environment (a) whether the Ministry is aware of and has reviewed studies conducted by other countries which have found that people exposed to secondhand smoke are more likely to be suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and dementia; and (b) if so, whether the Ministry will review policies on tackling secondhand smoke at homes in light of these studies.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Health what is the current breakdown by (i) registered and (ii) enrolled nurses for the nurse-to-patient ratios in general wards and intensive care units respectively.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Education (a) whether the Ministry will consider mandating all MOE schools to offer staggered working hours for teachers instead of allowing this to be at their discretion; and (b) if not, why and what steps will the Ministry take to increase the number of schools offering staggered working hours for teachers.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Health (a) for each year in the past five years, what are the mean and median number of days of annual leave that nurses in restructured hospitals have taken; and (b) if this information is not available, whether the Ministry will start collecting this data.
