Parliamentary Questions filed by Mr Louis Ng on 10, 11 and 12 January
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Education (a) whether primary school students are streamed into different classes for the following year based on their academic results; (b) if so, what is the rationale for doing this; and (c) if they are not streamed into different classes based on academic results, what other criteria are used instead.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Home Affairs what is the rationale for the requirement of at least three individuals to form a group under section 2 of the Organised Crime Act 2015.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Social and Family Development (a) whether the Ministry will be publishing the findings of the REACH survey in 2021 on how social workers have been impacted by COVID-19; (b) if so, when will the findings be published; and (c) what further steps will be taken by the Ministry to consult with social workers after obtaining the survey findings.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for National Development of the cases prosecuted for the illegal import and export of endangered species in the past five years, in how many of the cases prosecuted (i) were the endangered species in transit in Singapore for a different country and (ii) was Singapore the final destination for the endangered species.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Health in 2021, what percentage of migrant workers who were infected with COVID-19 (i) had no or mild symptoms (ii) required oxygen supplementation in general wards (iii) were in the intensive care unit and (iv) died, respectively.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Prime Minister (a) whether there are any updates on the rationale for reducing the amount of childcare leave from six days to two days when a child turns seven years old; and (b) whether the Government is reviewing this especially for working parents who are essential or frontline workers and are unable to work from home.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for National Development in view of the Government’s efforts to reduce disamenities in HDB estates (a) under what circumstances will HDB cite or use special covenants 2(1) and 2(2) of the Memorandum of Lease to HDB’s lease agreement in their enforcement efforts; and (b) how many times has HDB cited or enforced these covenants respectively for each year in the last three years and for what types of breach.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Social and Family Development (a) whether the Ministry has conducted a study on whether cooperative co-parenting is easier with sole care and control or shared care and control; (b) if so, what are the results of the study; (c) whether the Ministry intends to conduct such a study if it has not done so; and (d) if not, why not.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Manpower whether, beyond the Tripartite Standards or Tripartite Guidelines, the Ministry intends to retain existing work from home legislation and make the right to work from home the new normal.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Health (a) whether the Government will study the implementation of a ban on the sale of tobacco products to those born after a particular year, in addition to the current minimum legal age; (b) if so, what are the factors the Government will look into when determining whether to implement such a ban and when will the results of the study be announced; and (c) if not, why not.
Mr Louis Ng Kok Kwang: To ask the Minister for Manpower what is the rationale for having different safe management measures for vaccinated migrant workers living in dormitories and the rest of the population living outside of dormitories.
