Parliamentary Questions from Er. Dr. Lee Bee Wah on 4-5 November
1) To ask the Minister for the Environment and Water Resources in light of some cities in the region conducting water rationing:
(a) whether Singapore will suffer the same fate;
(b) what is the outlook on water adequacy in Singapore; and
(c) what advice does the Ministry have for businesses and residents in Singapore.
2) To ask the Minister for National Development
(a) what is the current application rate for 2-room Flexi flats in general and by singles in particular; and
(b) whether HDB will consider making 3-room BTO units available to singles who wish to accommodate their parents.

3) To ask the Minister for Trade and Industry
(a) whether all alternatives were explored before the decision was made to demolish the
Sentosa Merlion; and
(b) in light of the public sentiment from locals and tourists, whether the decision to demolish the Merlion will be reconsidered and, if not, whether there are plans to build another Merlion statue as a replacement.
4) To ask the Minister for Social and Family Development
(a) what are the plans to provide student care centres (SCC) in Yishun South including pre-school centres;
(b) what are the minimum criteria for private SCCs’ operations to ensure that they provide acceptable
standards of service; and
(c) how often does the Ministry visit these centres to ensure compliance.
