Northpoint City isn’t just a place to shop and dine. It’s unique for its community spaces—a community plaza the size of ten basketball courts, Singapore’s first community club within a mall (Nee Soon Central CC), and a rooftop community garden. This is not an accident- Nee Soon grassroots organisations worked with the developer on the design.
Northpoint City also links commuters seamlessly from Yishun MRT to Singapore’s first fully air-conditioned bus interchange.
Other malls in Nee Soon include Junction Nine in Nee Soon East (opened 2016) and the upcoming Wisteria Mall in Nee Soon South.
Besides Nee Soon Central CC, Kebun Baru CC (opened 2017) and Nee Soon East CC (opened 2015) are also brand new. They have exciting facilities like rock walls, gyms tailored for different age groups, and culinary studios for you to pursue your interests.
Yishun is one of the first towns to get a new hawker centre. Yishun Park Hawker Centre brings back memories of simpler days, with its pinball machines and retro décor. The variety of food, from local food to salads and gourmet coffee, will satisfy everyone.
After requests from our MPs, the operator gave Yishun residents priority in setting up stall there. Roughly half of the stallholders are Yishun residents. There are also two incubator stalls that support young hawkerpreneurs.
Heritage
Embrace Nee Soon’s heritage by taking your own Yishun-Sembawang Heritage walk. You can discover historical landmarks comprising the Old Nee Soon Village, Chong Pang City and the Old Admiralty House. You can also bring family and friends to visit Heritage Garden @ Yishun next to Blk 926, the first and largest outdoor heritage corner in Singapore, to uncover the rich history of the neighbourhoods we live in.
Nee Soon has its very own 3D heritage mural. You can hop on the bicycle in front of the mural, and look like you’re a student cycling to your kampung school. Check it out at Blk 776!
The neighbourhood has lots of game courts, for example the new covered basketball courts at Khatib Central. Nee Soon Central will become a Sports-in-Precinct area, which means more covered game courts, multi-use courts and school facilities open to the public.
