Volunteers of PAP Chong Pang Branch at Blk 107, Yishun Ring Road were busy the early morning of 30 Apr 2017, as they began setting up health-check stations.

Joined by staff of Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) and Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities (THKMC), it was a joint intiative to offer Chong Pang residents a fully-subsidised health screening.

The event – Project Health – by PAP Chong Pang Branch, saw over 100 participants undergo basic health checks, checking their blood glucose, blood cholesterol, BMI (Body Mass Index) and blood pressure.

Many residents above 50 years old also enthusiastically joined the optional mental health check by THKMC. It was an opportunity for them to learn more about mental well-being.

Through a video and conversations, participants learnt about how dementia and mental illness can affect many, even under the age of 45, and how we as a community can help.

Volunteers also took the opportunity to engage with the residents, offering them simple advice on staying healthy. All the participants also went home with a little gift bag.

Associate Professor Muhammad Faishal Ibrahim, MP for Nee Soon GRC dropped by to greet residents and volunteers. He was warmly congratulated by many on his promotion to Senior Parliamentary Secretary.
