Minister Khaw Boon Wan replied that
– MOT encourages environmentally-friendly vehicles, including electric cars.
– LTA and EDB have invited proposals for a nationwide electric car-sharing programme, including installing of 2,000 charging points across Singapore. The proposals are in the final stages of evaluation.
– Even though electric cars produce no tailpipe emissions, the process of generating the electricity they consume emits carbon. The greenest form of transport is still public transport.
– When the Tesla Model 3 is ready to be sold in Singapore, importers will submit its electrical energy consumption information. If it’s as energy efficient as a new Tesla S, a new Tesla 3 car would be entitled to the maximum CEVS rebate.
