On 26 March 2016, Nee Soon residents remembered our founding father Mr Lee Kuan Yew at a carnival in Nee Soon Central. The Chingay carnival focused on the values that Mr Lee stood for and the multi-cultural community that we have built. Residents were captivated by the colorful floats from the Chingay parade, stilt walkers, outdoor movie screening and performances.
Last year, over 15,000 Nee Soon residents came together to pay tribute to Mr Lee (read more here). The nation mourned his passing, recalled the struggles Singapore faced in the founding years, and how Mr Lee steered the country to where it is today.
This year, we looked back on some of the photos from last year’s tribute event and inspirational quotes by Mr Lee. We also penned our reflections on an expression wall, sky lanterns and lighted cubes. For many, he has left a legacy that we will continue to remember and carry forward.
