In Nee Soon GRC’s biggest tree-planting event ever, 600 residents planted 200 trees at a go.
The event was held on the 18th of October at the newly-built Khatib Bongsu park connector. All 5 Nee Soon GRC MPs picked up their spades and joined in with enthusiasm.
Nee Soon GRC MP and Minister for Home Affairs and Law K. Shanmugam told the media: “Environmental awareness and preservation is important especially for an island-state like Singapore. We boast of a thriving biodiversity today because of deliberate, conscious efforts like tree-planting. However, such initiatives need the participation of both government and the community. This ensures the movement is sustained for generations to come.”
Minister Shanmugam also gave out tokens of appreciation to the 25 most dedicated estate cleaners in Nee Soon GRC.
