Sharing the joy of CNY

Volunteers from the Nee Soon Central Young PAP (NSC YP) were out to share the joy of this Lunar New Year season. Festive decorations were distributed to Nee Soon residents and volunteers took the opportunity to get to know residents a little better. Many also shared information about the Meet-the-People Sessions (MPS) held regularly, for those who may need the occasional helping hand. The conversations were warm and filled with laughter as volunteers and residents joked about a variety of issues.....

First constituency fully covered by Designated Smoking Points

On Sunday (22 Jan), Nee Soon South launched 50 Designated Smoking Points (DSPs). With these DSPs, Nee Soon South will have roughly one DSP every 3 blocks of flats, and every block will have a DSP nearby.  Nee Soon South is the first constituency in Singapore to have all its HDB flats within reach of a DSP. Nee Soon South first piloted six DSPs in Zone D in 2014. They were a win-win solution. Non-smoking residents said the DSPs reduced the amount of second-hand smoke they have to endure,....

Minister and residents get haircuts together

Getting a haircut for Chinese New Year? Might be a simple errand for you, but some residents can’t afford it or can’t get to the salon without help. On 8 Jan 2017, some Chong Pang residents, including those from low-income households, had their hair cut for free. With the help of nine volunteer hairdressers, they emerged feeling more confident and ready to face the new year. Some of the younger kids got their ‘back to school’....

Looking back, looking forward

Nee Soon GRC MPs Er Dr Lee Bee Wah and Kwek Hian Chuan Henry published videos about what they’ve done in 2016, and what residents can look forward to in 2017. Dr Lee Bee Wah mentioned a dialysis centre, Diabetes Resource Centre and a major Neighbourhood Renewal Programme. Henry Kwek said Kebun Baru residents can look forward to upgraded flats, more frequent MRT trains and a new senior activity centre.....
