[Ed: This is part of our “2 Minutes With” series, in which we’ll bring you original commentaries and videos from your Nee Soon GRC MPs.]Yup, I’ve held my first Townhall, and I’ll be holding one every month.
We’ve all heard that line about how the government doesn’t listen or you’ve never seen your MP? Well let’s tackle that both of that head-on. I’m creating a common space for everyone to be seen and heard. I’m calling it “Nee Soon East Townhalls- Hanging out with Louis Ng”.
I’m doing away with Powerpoint presentations. I prefer a two-way conversation. Share your views with me and let’s discuss. I don’t have the answers to everything and I don’t think the government does as well. Sometimes I’ll share the reasons behind certain decisions, and we can discuss them. If we think something doesn’t make sense, let’s raise our concerns in the right forums – like Parliament.
I’m certain we can work together to make our policies better.
In my first Townhall on 2nd April, we talked about helping heartland shops, why couples don’t have more children and what we can do about climate change. I’ve raised some of these in Parliament.

If you feel there’s something we can do to make Singapore better, come share your views. No topic is off-limits, but let’s keep it civil and focused on policies and issues. There will be points where we will have to agree to disagree, but that’s important in an open dialogue.
I believe you and I want what’s best for Singapore. And I believe we all can have a role in shaping it. Let’s inspire each other with our Singapore story; partner to shape our ideal and more remarkable Singapore.
P.S. If you need assistance, or would like to volunteer with us, come meet me at my Meet-The-People’s Sessions every Monday evening at Blk 227.
